I find it amazing how much my children trust. They are uncomplicated. From the moment they were born I held them in my arms they knew they were in a safe and secure place. As they’ve grown they have had to continually listen to Jonathon and my instruction to remain in that place of safety.
On the weekend we were staying with friends. In the middle of the night our little 3 year old woke up and became distressed by the unfamiliar lights coming into the room. I remember talking to him and asking him to trust me again. He needed to listen to my word that although we were in a different place we were still safe, he needed to trust my voice and not his own thoughts.
God is always watching out for us because He loves us and has the best for us. However, in order for us to receive God’s best we have to trust Him. Just like our children need to hear from us we need to hear from God and that means reading the Bible and listening as the word is declared by His messengers. God’s ways are not our ways. I know I can trust His way but at times this can be difficult when I look at the circumstances around me. It’s at these times that I need to lift my eyes, trust God and listen to Him and not myself.
Isaiah 55:9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.
