It’s the middle of another busy day. Lunches need to be made; dishes washed and put away, clothes to be folded, meat defrosted. Requests are coming in loud from every corner of the house in particular little miss one year old who’s discovered her voice and has attached herself to my legs. I’m looking at the family room floor covered with toys so I ask my older two to take the toys back to their room. Guess what? They did it. No arguments, complaints or excuses just a simple ‘Sure thing Mum’. In that moment I was truly blessed; I was given a glimpse of how things can be. This doesn’t happen all that much at the moment but I know that will change in time. There is a blessing that comes to all of us when we obey God. After the resurrection, Jesus was walking along the beach and he called out to the disciples who were fishing in their boat but were yet to catch anything. Jesus called out for them to throw their net on the other side of their boat so they did. They didn’t argue or reason with Jesus they simply obeyed. As they did their nets were so full they could not haul them in. They had food for breakfast and much to sell, they were blessed When my children obey I am blessed. They too are blessed as they bring peace to the home and their lunch makes it to the table sooner! The same is true with God. There is a blessing and peace for me as I obey God and fulfil His plans for my life. I have no doubt that it gives Him great joy when we obey, just as a parent with His child.
Luke 11:28 “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
